Bermuda is divided into nine parishes each with its own character and special attractions. Once there, you will want to be out and about exploring. Venture to Hamilton - a shopper’s paradise for perfume, jewellery, fashion, fine gifts and local art; the town of St. George`s is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with its 400 years of history; in the West End you will be enchanted by the restored Royal Naval Dockyard and Bermuda Maritime Museum. All over the island you will find lots to do and enjoy
There are also plentiful activities in which to participate and enjoy. As well as being the scuba diving wreck capital of the world, Bermuda has more golf courses per square mile than any other country. Warm crystal clear waters and magical romantic beaches welcome you for swimming, snorkelling and diving. If you prefer, stroll, jog or cycle along the old Bermudan Railway Trail, canter a horse along the beach trails, go fishing for bonefish and marlin or take the helm of a yacht and sail into the sunset
When it comes to dining you will enjoy Bermuda’s eclectic culinary delights. You must have a sip (or two!) of the famous local drinks - Rum Swizzle and Dark ‘n Stormy. True to English tradition, you will also be tempted by the daily ritual of afternoon tea and cakes
TRAVEL GUIDE
The Gulf Stream which flows between Bermuda and the North American continent provides the island with two main seasons. The hotter summer season from May to mid-November is warm and sunny though temperatures rarely exceed 30ºC. From mid-December to late March the weather is spring like with an average temperature of 21º C; perfect for hiking, golf, even scuba diving. Between these seasons be prepared for both spring and summer weather!
A visa is not required for EU citizens. All visitors must have a valid passport and return or onward ticket
Vaccinations are not normally required although an international vaccination certificate against yellow fever is needed if arriving from an infected country
The unit of currency is the Bermuda Dollar (BMD) with an indicative exchange rate of GBP1 = BMD1.9. The Bermuda Dollar is at parity with the US Dollar which is also widely accepted
The official language of Bermuda is English (as in the Queen’s English)
