Visiting Seychelles for the first time – nothing prepares you for the startling turquoise waters, sandy beaches, coral reefs and lush tropical mountains that greet you as you touch down on the island of Mahe – truly the postcards do not lie! These islands are truly the most romantic you’ll ever find. On Mahe alone there are 65 beaches and fascinating nature trails. Here, Victoria is the world’s smallest capital with its quaint clock tower, old colonial houses, churches and many restaurants serving finger licking Creole cuisine
For honeymooners, the island of Praslin has special resonance as the Vallee de Mai UNESCO World Heritage Site is home to the legendary Coco de Mer palm tree which some say marks the original site of the Garden of Eden. You will be drawn to wander along nature trails and you might spy some of the world’s rarest birds including the black parrot. The wonderful beaches at Anse Lazio and Anse Georgette are among the most prized in the world. Moreover, Praslin is also the ideal place to hop off to the smaller island gems of Cousin, Curieuse, St. Pierre, Aride and the Sisters islands
La Digue – so relaxed that some say it is almost horizontal – is the most photographed island of Seychelles. Here your choice of transport is between bicycle and ox-cart. You should not miss the picturesque coves at Anse Source d’Argent strewn with giant granite boulders against a backdrop of lush foliage
Once in Seychelles access to the other islands could not be easier by scheduled flights and charter helicopter services. [A high speed ferry connects Mahe and Praslin and traditional schooner plies between Praslin and La Digue]

TRAVEL GUIDE
Seychelles, close to the equator, is hot throughout the year with an average temperature of 29°C and sea temperature almost the same. The tropical climate is influenced primarily by trade winds. The south east from May to September provides a dryer period with refreshing breeze and lower humidity. The north west from November to March brings tropical rainfall particularly in December and January. Showers tend to be heavy though it is also usual to have dry days. Unlike its Indian Ocean neighbours, Seychelles lies outside the cyclone belt
A visa is not required. Visitors to Seychelles must have a valid passport, return or onward ticket and pre-booked accommodation
Vaccinations are not normally required although an international vaccination certificate against yellow fever is required if arriving from an infected country
The unit of currency is the Seychelles Rupee (SCR) with an indicative exchange rate of GBP 1 = SCR17
The official languages of Seychelles are Creole, English and French
